Le Morne Cottage

This private holiday home is situated at Le Morne Village in the southern part of Mauritius island. The cottage consists of two separate apartments on two floors. Each apartment is designed to accommodate four persons, thus 8 Persons in total can be accommodated in the whole cottage.

The wild, and beautiful southern coast of Mauritius begins at Le Morne Village, an aboriginal fishing village which was founded after the abolition of slavery on the island. Former Creole slaves settled here to become independent fishermen.

Tide and weather conditions define the daily routine in Le Morne, on one hand you find calmness and tranquility, and on the other hand you can discover the African soul. Liveness and lethargy are close together in Le Morne.

The cottage is located in a Mauritian fishing village – this means that you can hear the normal sounds of daily life in the village. At weekends Sega parties are sometimes held on the beach or at people’s homes.

Sometimes however, the tranquility is only interrupted by happy children playing with mom’s stolen curtains – used as sail on an old surfboard, discovering the huge lagoon of Le Morne.

This is an ideal destination to feel the Creole spirit and to get in touch with the day-to-day Mauritian lifestyle.

You find turquoise water and white sand beaches on the lagoon just across the quiet beach road from the house, or 10 minutes away by foot at “la Prairie” Beach.

In addition, a huge range of leisure activities is available at Le Morne.
You have direct access to the world famous wind – and kite surfing spot Le Morne lagoon. Depending on the wind direction, you can start a days surfing right in front of your holiday cottage.
Other activities in Le Morne are : sailing, beach fishing, deep sea fishing, swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving or hiking in the nearby national park.
